Veterinary Oxygen Recovery, Anesthesia & Aerosol Therapy Masks
Oxygen Recovery Masks

Purpose
Oxygen Recovery Masks increase oxygen levels in the inhaled air, improving respiratory function, particularly in emergency situations or for patients experiencing severe respiratory distress.
Mechanism
The Oxygen Recovery Mask covers the nose and mouth, creating a reservoir for oxygen delivery while allowing for CO₂ to vent through dual green ports to ensure a steady oxygen flow.
Uses
Widely utilized in veterinary medicine and animal rescue, oxygen masks support animals breathing independently but requiring supplemental oxygen. Fire departments and emergency responders worldwide use Oxygen Recovery Masks in post-trauma, post-surgery and post-smoke inhalation recovery scenarios.
Anesthesia Masks
Purpose
Designed to deliver oxygen, anesthetic gases and other respiratory agents during medical procedures, Anesthesia Masks ensure animals remain unconscious or sedated while facilitating controlled ventilation.
Mechanism
The Anesthesia Mask fully encloses the nose and mouth, functioning as a direct extension of the anesthesia machine. Unlike Oxygen Masks, the Anesthesia Mask lack vents or ports to minimize anesthetic leakage.
Uses
Essential in surgical settings, the Anesthesia Mask provides a secure and efficient means of maintaining patient sedation. The top connection links directly to breathing circuits, which direct oxygen and anesthetic supply, significantly reducing CO₂ rebreathing risks.

Aerosol Therapy Masks

Purpose
Aerosol Therapy Masks deliver medications in mist form directly into the respiratory tract, aiding in the treatment of conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, kennel cough and others.
Mechanism
Using a nebulizer, liquid medication is converted into a fine mist, which is inhaled through the mask. The Aerosol Therapy Mask features a single side port designed to accommodate both metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) and 22 mm nebulizer connectors*.
Uses
Commonly used in respiratory therapy, the Aerosol Therapy Mask provides effective medication delivery while also humidifying the air to ease breathing for patients.
Veterinary-Specific Design Considerations
All McCulloch Medical™ Oxygen Recovery, Anesthesia and Aerosol Therapy Masks are transparent, allowing staff to monitor the patient’s breathing, detect potential bleeding and ensure proper air flow. Each mask is equipped with a black diaphragm designed to optimize performance:
Oxygen Recovery Masks
The diaphragm prevents oxygen leakage, ensuring prescribed oxygen levels are delivered efficiently. Without it, only "blow-by" oxygen is provided, which is less effective, particularly in emergency rescue environments.
Anesthesia Masks
The diaphragm limits leaks to maintain consistent anesthetic delivery while preventing staff exposure to inhaled anesthetics.
Aerosol Therapy Masks
The diaphragm minimizes medication loss, ensuring precise and efficient drug administration.
